The inception missions to partner countries found that there is a substantial need to improve staffs’ skills in using statistical software such as STATA in order to use it effectively in household survey micro-level data management and analysis, and in general to produce high quality statistics. In addition, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine expressed their need to learn how to use the STATA software to produce social statistics and analyse household survey data. To fulfil these existing needs, STEP organised an introductory virtual training course on the STATA software.

The main objective of the virtual training course on the use of the STATA software was to enhance NSI staffs’ ability to manipulate and analyse household survey micro-level data using the STATA software. The training course was conducted by one of STEP’s key experts.

STEP provided the participating countries with a temporary workshop multi-user license of STATAMP2 version 16, and relevant documents provided by the STATA corporation. In addition, all lecture materials, dataset, dataset instructions and exercise tasks were provided in advance to all participants. The training course was carried out successfully in accordance with the agenda and the participants were very active during the training course.
